Ed Mahoney, associate professor of park, recreation and tourism
resources, was awarded the 2001 Mayor's Cup from the Michigan Boating
Industries Association for outstanding contribution to the recreational
boating industry. Mahoney's research over the past 15 years has been
directed toward registered boat demographics, boater use patterns and
marine industry economic impact studies. Peter Glendinning, professor of art, was re-elected to a two-year
term as director-at-large on the board of the Photo Imaging Education
Association (PIEA), a section of Photo Marketing Association International.
PIEA is a worldwide organization of photo-educators, whose members teach
across the spectrum of levels and styles of photography. H. Owen Reed, professor emeritus of music, was honored with a concert by the Hamilton Fairfield (Ohio) Symphony Orchestra, featuring four of Reed's major compositions. Reed, who retired from MSU in 1976 after teaching music theory and composition for 37 years, drove to the concert from his home in Arizona. He has donated his manuscripts and published works to the MSU Libraries. |
