David W. Robinson, professor of history, was awarded a research fellowship from the National Endowment for the Humanities. His research will focus on the effects of the European "scramble" for Africa and other colonial possessions in the late 19th century.

Murari Suvedi, associate professor of agriculture and natural resources education and communication systems, was named part-time assistant dean of International Studies and Programs, effective in February. Prior to coming to MSU, he was a lecturer at the Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science at Tribhuvan University in his native Nepal.

Pete Pasterz, manager, Office of Recycling and Waste Management, was elected to the board of directors of the National Recycling Coalition. Pasterz was chosen one of three vice presidents of the coalition, a non-profit organization committed to ensuring that recycling is an integral part of waste and resource management.
