Deaths

Erwin Bendall, 80, retired buyer, National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory, of Saranac died Jan. 11. Bendall joined the staff in 1964 and retired in 1985.

Catherine Burt, 84, retired secretary, International Studies and Programs, of Lansing died Dec. 28. Burt joined the staff in 1968 and retired in 1983. Survivors include her husband, Paul.

Maurice Day, 92, assistant professor emeritus of forestry, of Knoxville, Tenn., died Dec. 26. Day joined the faculty in 1938 and retired in 1974. Survivors include his wife, Vivian.

Heinz J. Dill, 63, professor emeritus of linguistics and languages, of East Lansing died Dec. 13. Dill joined the faculty in 1968 and retired in 1999.

Grace B. Elliott, 83, retired accounting clerk, Central Bakery, of Alma died Dec. 27. Elliott joined the staff in 1965 and retired in 1981.

Jan Newman, 75, program aide, Children, Youth and Families Nutrition Program, MSU Exten-sion, of Holly died Dec. 29. Newman joined the staff in 1969 and retired in 1987.

Mary G. Storer, 52, veterinary technician, Veterinary Teaching Hospital, of Lansing died Jan. 13. Storer joined the staff in 1971.

Martha West, 74, retired baker, Central Bakery, of Lansing died Dec. 26. West joined the staff in 1954 and retired in 1988.
