Construction Website uses SVG technology

MSU's construction projects Website was revamped this year to employ a new technology called Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG).

In SVG, images are vector-based, so the information in the file tells a browser how to draw the image, rather than what color each pixel is.

One benefit of a vector-based image is retention of detail when the image is scaled.
Another benefit of the SVG format is that text is stored as text, so users can search an image for a keyword or copy and paste text from the image.

In order to access the construction projects Website, users will need an SVG viewer plug-in for their browser.

This plug-in should automatically download when a user enters the site, located at: www.gis.msu.edu/construction

Comments and suggestions about the construction projects Website should be e-mailed to: webadmin@gis.msu.edu
