It's a spring thing!
After a chilly March, it finally looks like spring has sprung. Thanks to some warm days in early April the last of the leftover snow piles melted; the grass is turning green; and flowers, shrubs and trees are beginning to bloom.

address grads at commencement

Renowned poet and author Maya Angelou and National Institutes of Health (NIH) Director Elias Zerhouni will be the featured speakers at spring commencement ceremonies.

Author of 'The Kite Runner' to visit for One Book project

Khaled Hosseini, author of The Kite Runner, which was selected as the 2005 book for the annual One Book One Community reading program co-sponsored by MSU and the city of East Lansing, will visit in late August. (Full Story)

Endowed scholarship to support local area high school students

A new endowed scholarship program in the College of Natural Science will provide $5,000 scholarships to students from Lansing’s J.W. Sexton and Eastern high schools starting in the fall. (Full Story)

MSU minority enrollment stable; retention above national average

MSU’s efforts during 2003-04 to recruit and retain a diverse student body, as well as support a diverse campus, continue to be a national model, according to the head of MSU’s Office of Affirmative Action, Compliance and Monitoring (AACM). (Full Story)

'You Vote' program deemed a success by 'U', East Lansing

As expected, the 2004 presidential race stirred up political awareness among students all over campus, but You Vote – a coalition established by an MSU-city of East Lansing task force in 2001 – was ready for the record number of students who cast their ballots. (Full Story)

English professor named Fulbright Distinguished Chair
